Oral History in Canada: A Reader

Call for publications:

Oral History in Canada: A Reader

Oral History in Canada: A Reader will be a collection of the best
articles and essays about oral history in Canada, Canadian oral history,
and oral history by Canadians from the 20th and early 21st centuries. We
will also include work on oral tradition. We are eager to include
articles from a wide variety of research fields, including academic use
of oral history in social, women's, labour, Aboriginal, military,
everyday life history as well as folklore and vernacular culture; the
use of oral history in public history (museums, art exhibitions,
broadcast media, movies, etc.); and the use of oral history in
classrooms (K-12, higher education, distance education, adult
education).

After a thorough review of published articles, we now seek your input
in making sure we have not overlooked any important publications. Please
send us your suggestions for the most relevant and illuminating pieces
in Canadian oral history (very broadly defined). At the end of our
search, we will make the complete bibliography available online at
http://www.canoha.ca.

The Reader will serve as an introductory text for undergraduate and
graduate students, a reference for Canadian Studies, and a gateway to
Canadian oral history theory and practice for a global audience.

Please send your suggestions as well as inquiries to

Kristina Llewellyn kllewell@uottawa.ca
and
Alexander Freund a.freund@uwinnipeg.ca

The editors of the Reader are co-editors of the _Oral History Forum
d'histoire orale_, the journal of the Canadian Oral History Association
(http://journal.canoha.ca, http://www.canoha.ca).
